Mass Challenge and Our Patent

Posted in News on April 13, 2011 3 Comments

The Mass Challenge is a $1 million accelerator competition for Massachusetts startups. It is in its second year of operations. Last year, over 300 people were hired, and millions of dollars were raised by the competitors -- so, while winning is great, it's not the only thing. Even companies that did not emerge as big winners seem to have won anyway.

Two rounds of judging are coming, this month and in May, and then the finalists will be prepared for and then accelerated -- there will be a good 100 finalist companies. These are what are considered high impact startups. The final judging is in October.

We consider the application to Mass Challenge to dovetail rather nicely with our patent application, which recently went through its initial filing at the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It is application number 13/026,731. We're so proud!

What does one have to do with the other? Well, things are happening here. We're in production and we're on schedule for a delivery this Summer to our first big client, WPI. We are truly patent pending. And we are, at this time, in the running for the Mass Challenge.

2011 is shaping up to be quite a year for us here at Neuron Robotics. Thank you for coming along on the ride.

Greetings I am a member of the Society for Neuroscience and its Professional Development and Communication commitites. I am a leader on a newly created discussion board for the Society on robots. I know remarkably little about this topic – I have merely dabbled in robotics! I am wondering if you would care to speculate about the current challenges in robotics and their relationship to the way the nervous system is organized and functions.
